Further inmates who died in Israeli custody are unidentified. The prison service and military provided analysts with the total of casualties in custody, and basic additional information including the site where they lost their lives, but not the inmates’ personal details.

Identification Challenges

In 21 cases, mainly people from Gaza, researchers were unable to match the few details given by government bodies to a casualty documented by advocacy bodies, by means of testimony from released detainees or coverage in the news outlets.
