Dive Into this Revamped Classic Adventure: This Complimentary Trial for DQ7 Reimagined Lands Soon.
Fans anticipating the arrival of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined can get a head start the full month. A exciting demo version will go live on Jan. 7, offering a sizable look into the game's beginning segments. Notably, all progress earned within this demo will be able to be carried over directly into the full game upon its eventual launch.
Beyond Just a Straightforward Remake: A Complete Reimagining
This title is a ground-up reinterpretation of the landmark year 2000 role-playing game, first known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a significant step away from other Dragon Quest remakes, like the recently launched HD-2D iterations, this version adopts a unique three-dimensional visual presentation. Locales appear to look like detailed miniature worlds, with party members featuring a delightful stylized look.
"Considering the 3DS remake, the story was still notoriously long. Therefore, we came to a decision that we wanted to streamline the story, [and] craft an adventure for today's audiences."
Major Gameplay Enhancements & Updates
Square Enix have implemented numerous enhancements to update the original gameplay loop. Among these are:
- Quick Field Encounters: Taking a cue from contemporary RPGs, low-level enemies can now be dispatched directly on the exploration screen eliminating the need for initiating a separate turn-based combat screen.
- Adjustable Combat Speed: Players can accelerate battle sequences to quickly get past simpler encounters.
- New Vocation System: One completely new vocation has been created for this remake. Furthermore, party members now have the ability to take on a second vocation, greatly expanding customization depth.
These refinements are designed to tackle one of the original game's most noted criticisms: its immense playtime. The initial main quest could easily take over 100 hours to see through. This reimagined version has been expressly reworked to refine pacing and reduce perceived bloat.
