Former Doctor Accused of Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a former physician now faces charges for performing sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
A senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
