President Trump Welcomes Families of Attacked National Guard Members to the White House

President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the family of a Guard member killed last week to visit the White House.

He noted that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Devastating Incident

Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Memorials across the state have taken place in their remembrance.

White House Offer

The president said he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the families of both members of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump informed reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Reaction

Mourners gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to honor Beckstrom.

Both they had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to support public safety in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the type of pupil that teachers hoped for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a positive energy that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the Associated Press. “She was caring, compassionate and always eager to support those in need.”

Funeral details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Government Revisions

Law enforcement have accused a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and two counts of violent assault while armed.

The incident caused the Trump administration to suspend refugee claims and cease providing visas to owners of travel documents.

Status of Wolfe

The airman, a resident of the city, started his military career in early 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general the attorney general stated on Fox News Sunday that she aimed to visit his relatives.

Impact of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with distinction, per the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had courage,” Morrisey told the crowd at the memorial. “Though her life ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
