A Discovery
As detailed in an account quoting a confidential source, a practitioner arriving for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the house. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
Upon entering the home, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had gone with her contacted 911. Subsequently, first responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Charges
Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, as well as the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently being held and is ineligible for bail.
Clarifications
The person close to the family also disputed several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the estate, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.
Additionally disputed circulated claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "worried" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. The source claimed the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction includes reports of alleged "erratic" behavior by Nick at a event held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. Although the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they asserted that reports of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
According to law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports indicated the state of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not received medical clearance and would not appear until Wednesday at the earliest.
