Renowned Actor Pat Finn, Recognized For Roles in Seinfeld and The Middle, Has Died at Age 60.
US entertainer Finn, who appeared in iconic television series such as "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed aged 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in LA recently after undergoing treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, as reported by news outlets.
"Pat never met a stranger - only friends he didn't know yet," his family stated in a announcement.
They added that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable TV Career
Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.
He also had a repeating character on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a party host who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.
In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several popular shows, including:
- "King of Queens"
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- "House"
Finn was perhaps best known for portraying the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.
His film credits are "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
A Life in Improv
Away from his television work, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was a member of a six-person improv troupe named Beer Shark Mice.
"He guided, supported, and advised countless students throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find someone anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.
In a tribute, colleague and actor actor Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote publicly.
Pat Finn is remembered by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his family.
