Torrential Downpours Worsen Conditions for Displaced Gazans, Officials Caution

Nearly 55,000 families have so far been affected by the weather, with their possessions and temporary homes damaged.

Heavy storms over the recent period have compounded the extremely difficult living conditions of the vast number of evacuated civilians in the territory, as stated by aid groups.

"Horrendous" Weather Creates Serious Dangers

A spokesman described the recent storm as "awful", with downpours so intense that as much as 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the streets.

"The recent weather was exceptionally horrendous for the residents. The heavy rains were so powerful... And the gusts were so forceful," noted the representative.

Authorities voice grave worry that minors residing in temporary structures in soaked attire will fall victim to hypothermia and other sicknesses.

Casualties and Widespread Destruction

The health ministry have reported that one baby has died from hypothermia and no fewer than 11 other people have been killed in roof cave-ins caused by the harsh conditions.

Additional accounts indicate a increased death toll. Spokespeople said that multiple structures had totally fallen and scores had sustained partial collapse.

Assistance Distribution Seen as Inadequate
